Purpose of Offering: To learn the principles and knowledge base of Rehabilitation Nursing in stroke survivors. Speakers: Karyn S Pingel MS CCC-SLP (Service Chief Audiology and Speech Pathology) and David Hume (Stroke survivor with aphasia) Learner Objectives: 1. Describe the normal process of swallowing. 2. Discuss the assessment process for a patient with a swallowing disorder. 3. Describe the interventions used in treating swallowing disorders. 4. Observe an actual patient recovering from severe stroke and speech disorder.
